Study of a Semi-Active Control System to Reduce Lateral Displacement in Framed Structures under Seismic Load

This study presents the numerical implementation of a semi-active control system used to reduce lateral displacements in framed structures under seismic loads. To manage forces structures, two controllable fluid devices called magnetorheological (MR) dampers were used, and fuzzy logic (FL) algorithm was employed determine optimal forces. The FL controller has been programmed based on set 49 inference rules using input parameters: displacement velocity first story uncontrolled structure. voltage be applied MR output parameter algorithm, thus altering damping system. evaluate performance proposed controller, three plane frame with different geometric configurations modeled subjected four real ground accelerations records. results obtained this showed considerable reductions displacement, acceleration, interstory drift for all studied, demonstrating effectiveness efficiency improve characteristics structures.
